So it's been a while. Hello if you're still there!

I've never been one to post every day or even really regularly, but I think this could have been the longest I've gone without popping into to say hello. It was a deliberate thing really. If I'm completely honest, I'd fallen out of love with blogging. I've been on here since mid 2009, and I feel that I've changed so much since then, and that this blog doesn't truly represent me anymore. It's so hard to put into words, please bear with me!

Basically I decided that I wanted to take a little break and have a think about what I wanted to do. Alongside this, I've also been really busy in other parts of my life and I don't like to post half-heartedly.

I really want to start blogging again soon. Over the Christmas break I'm going to have a think about the direction I want to go in, and whether I want to continue on this blog or start a complete fresh. I will obviously update when this happens :).

I'm also in my final year of uni, and so as well as getting on with a (massive) load of work, I've also been making decisions about my future. Eeek! I don't really want to say too much about it right now, but I'm hoping in a few months I will be able to reveal all. I think it's really exciting (you may not ha!) I hate to be all cryptic about it, but I don't want to put it all out here and jinx it. I'm sure you understand.

Anyway, excuse the rambles. I'm sure you're all thinking 'Emma, we don't care', and you may not, but I just wanted to put something up here to explain.

I hope you'll stick by me and I hope to be blogging (in one capacity or another) soon!

Turn on the bright lights

Beige. Not a colour I would usually want in a blazer, but I’ve dug this out of my wardrobe and forgot how much I loved it. The fact that it’s jersey makes it slightly less smart than a traditional blazer, which I really like. I got the necklace in the Men’s section of Newlook.It originally had two little crosses on the chain, but I took them off. I like the look of crosses and they’re quite ‘big’ just now, but I don’t like to wear them myself. I love the angel wing and I’m on the hunt for some more angel wing style accessories. As always, let me know if you have any! :)

Been loving listening to Interpol’s first album again. It’s an album I can listen to the whole way through and sing along to every song. Music wise, I want to start going to more gigs. I love live music but don’t often go to see bands, mainly because my friends don’t like most of the bands that I like and I’m not sure how I’d feel going alone. Would you? I’d go to the cinema myself, so I suppose it’s no different? Hmmm.

Rainy Night House

Once again I’ve used the Babyliss curling wand to style my hair. I can’t speak high enough of it, and it sounds completely over-the-top, but it has completely changed the way I do my hair for the better. Love it! It can give both tight, Taylor Swift-esque curls, or loose curls like above.

I cannot believe we are a week into September already! September! I’m now on the hunt for some autumn/winter boots and some nice warm clothes (hurry up student loan!) I also want to get a proper winter coat. Last winter I usually wore my (faux) leather jacket with loads of layers underneath, but I really think I should get a winter coat. It is Scotland after all! I go back to uni in three weeks time so have a load to get sorted before then. I feel sick at the thought of my dissertation already and I’ve only just started my research. I can feel it’s going to be a hard slog this year but I’m hoping for the best.

Perhaps the one good thing about starting back uni is…stationary! Sometimes I prefer buying stationary to clothes which is saying something. I just get excited about new books, pens, highlighters, everything! I like a mixture of supermarket goodies and other shops like Paperchase. I know I’m not the stationary lover out there, so if any of you have seen any cute pieces then let me know!

I Still Remember

Firstly let me just say, this is the most easily creased shirt I have ever worn! I love it, but it is pain to iron and keep crease free throughout the day. Hmmph.

I bought these shorts in the Debenhams sale about a month ago. At the time they had a buy one get one free offer on sale items, so I ended up getting four things for about £20. I’m sure they’ll feature on here soon!

My Mum actually bought the bag for me from a fete the other day. She managed to find loads of really good things and I failed and only bought books. It was far too busy to have a proper look at everything. She also found a new OPI nail varnish for 10p! It’s in the shade ‘Kennebunk-Port’ which is a really nice red colour. I should have probably taken a picture to show you but I forgot and I’m in a rush to get this up. Will also feature this soon!

Rain Dance Maggie

I’ve been housebound for the last few days, thanks to everything in my house breaking at once and me being the only one who could actually stay in and wait for people to come and fix things! I’ve had to wash my hair with a bucket for the past few weeks (classy I know), so it will be so nice to have a proper shower again!

Other than that I’ve nothing exciting to report. I’ve been getting uni stuff ready and doing some work for when I go back, but I’m sure you don’t want to hear about that! I’m still looking for a job. It’s actually getting embarrassing now. Someone employ me!

Summer summer summertime

When someone says ‘summertime’, I find it impossible not to burst into song. See here for the song in question. Just wanted to do a little catch up post on my holiday and the likes!

A little group of us went to Santa Ponsa in Majorca and it was really nice to get away. The weather was gorgeous, and perhaps a bit too hot if that’s possible?! The apartment we stayed in was pretty nice considering the awful reviews. One particularly concerning one claimed that they had woke in the night to find a man in their room. I can confirm that no strangers were found in our apartment, so that was a bonus!

Some of my friends didn’t want their pictures online which is fair enough, so unfortunately you are left with pictures of my ugly mug!

So that’s pretty much it! Sorry for the delay in getting this up. Filmed a video today and have a few more posts lined up :). Back on it!

Fluorescent Adolescent

Love a bit of Superman! I always feel that little bit happier when I wear this t-shirt. The design of the skirt looks a bit awkward with the t-shirt, but that’s what I quite like about this outfit. Superman always reminds me of being young because I used to watch it on BBC2 when Teri Hatcher was in it. I used to love it! Although I also used to love Robot Wars, so my television taste is somewhat questionable!

Looking at these pictures has made me realise how long my hair is. This sounds silly, but I don’t actually notice ‘in real life’, but in photographs I am always shocked as to how long it is. It’s a little blah right now, as all of my layers have grown out. I want to get it cut and styled a bit differently, but I just don’t know what I want. Hmmm. Hair suggestions welcome ;).

Barry M Dazzle Dust #44

Dazzle Dusts always seem to end up at the back of my eye shadow drawer, and if I’m honest, I quite often forget about them. However, recently I decided to dig them out again, and straight away I realised why I loved them! By far my favourite is #44 Bronze, and I wanted to share how beautiful it is.

As you would assume by the name, these are extremely ‘dazzley’. This particular one is very metallic looking and really lives up to it’s name. I adore the colour, and I especially think it looks gorgeous with blue eyes.

The product itself is very easy to apply, and actually not messy at all. I swirl a bit of the dust in the lid first before applying it to the lid and that seems to prevent too much being applied. Another thing I love about this one is that it wears very well. I usually use these without a primer, and even then they last on me all day, and don’t smudge of crease.

The little pots contain a large amount of product. I bought this one around two years ago (probably a bit unhygienic of me), and there is barely a dent in it, despite me having used it loads of times. For only £4.59 these are amazing value!

These can also be applied wet for an even more shiny look. I don’t generally do this as I love the way it looks dry, however it does look great both ways.

I genuinely cannot think of a bad thing to say about this product. Gorgeous colour, lasts all day, easy to use. 5/5!

My friends say I’m acting peculiarly

Channelling my inner school girl. Somone told me I looked ‘Victorian’ – definitely a compliment! Have been trying out different ways to wear this lace shirt. Teamed it with a little jersey dress from H&M and a woven brown belt.

I think I get far too excited about household furnishings. Ever since doing my room up, I always have a nose around the home departments of shops when I’m out. The above is from a mixture of B&M, Sainsbury’s and Wilkinsons. Can you tell I like green? ;)

Been wearing more hair accessories this past week. I’ve always been a fan of headscarves and the likes, but have been wearing them as a turban recently. I have a few stretchy turbans but I prefer to just make them out of normal scarves. That way I’m not restrcited to certain patterns, I can use any scarf I have. (I am wearing clothes, my hair is covering the tank top!)

This past week has been pretty uneventful. Well, it was my friend’s 21st party which was really good (forgot to take my camera!!), but apart from that I’ve not been doing much. The party was great though, and half way through the dj organised some party games – so funny! I have a severe lack of funds so I’ve been catching up on tv, youtube videos, blogs, online (window) shopping, etc too which has been nice.

Must dash, a moth has just flew in my window, eeek.

Primark Holiday Bits and Bobs

Having not been on a beachy holiday in a good few years, I needed to pick up a couple of bits. As I’m on a very strict budget, Primark was my destination of choice! Everything I bought was on sale and the following came to just £10, woopdy!

Pink, Jewelled Sandals £3

I usually hate anything with fake crystals, diamond etc, but these are really quite comfy and I figured they’d be perfect for day time on hols.

£1 for a pair of shoes is utter madness, and I don’t have high hopes for their longevity. However they will be great by the pool or the beach etc and that’s the only reason I bought them.

I’m now off to watch 24 Hours in A&E. Do any of you watch it? It’s so good! It really shows how intense working in a hospital can be, and I vow never to complain about waiting for four hours to be seen again! Rather that than be critically ill!

Sweet and tender hooligan

Hi I’m Emma, and I like to cut up stuff:

This t-shirt was the outcome of me being bored one day, I’m not sure it was an success! Oh well, I quite enjoy wearing it, but I' definitely didn’t succeed at the DIY fringing! I might go back and cut a little higher into the fringe but I don’t want to ruin it! Hmmm, we’ll see.

I'’m still job hunting, which is not fun. I feel odd not working! Have applied for quite a few so fingers crossed I get something. If it’s this hard to find a little part time job then I dread to think what it’ll be like when I graduate. I’m really starting to get scared about what I’ll do after uni because I’ve changed the kind of area I’d like to work in and I’m finding it difficult to get work experience, gaaah. I just keep hoping that something will turn up!

On a lighter note, I’m going to Majorca in about two weeks for a little break with some girlies! Definitely not the best idea since I’ll be spending my last pennies on it, but I figured I might as well live in the moment and deal with it when I get back! Plan on taking lots of pics of outfits and other exciting things so I’ll hopefully have lots to share :).

Ring Collection and Storage

Storage posts are some of my favourite to read, as I’m really nosy and always looking for new ideas to store things. I thought I’d show how I store my rings as I thought it might be of interest to some of you who like this type of thing! I store my bracelets in the same sort of way, but am still looking for a way to store my necklaces. Right now they are hanging on a coat hanger (eeeek) so I’m in need of some inspiration if any of you can help!

This is the majority of my rings. I no doubt have some in various bags/under my bed etc but this is pretty much the lot. I can’t remember where each one is from, but they are from a selection of high street and charity shops. Pretty much all of my jewellery is costume jewellery and none of these rings cost more than £10.

In terms of storage, I like it to look mismatched and so that’s why I’ve chosen to use the tea cup and the plate. The cup and saucer was a gift so I’m not sure where it was from, and the plate was second hand. You can get loads of lovely pieces of crockery in charity shops so definitely have a look if you are in the market for some nice cups or plates! I’ve also seen really nice pieces similar to mine in the home section of TK Maxx, so that’s definitely worth a shot :).

‘Festival’ Hair

With T in the Park taking place this weekend, I’ve been inspired to try out some ‘festival’ hair – by which I mean messy and flower adorned. This is a more over the top version of the way that I normally wear my hair, and it’s really easy to do. Basically, the messier the better!

What I used:

Comb (or brush) to backcomb
Grips to hold hair
Flower clips (or any hair accessory you want)
Hairspray

The luxury of a look like this is that you can pretty much do whatever you want. I backcombed my hair a little to add volume and texture, then pulled out sections and random and braided them. I then pinned both sides back and added the flower clips and that was it. You can crimp bits if you like to curl sections at random too. The list is endless :).

* A tip for braids. Smaller braids tend to hold better than thicker ones, so if you want them to stay in without having to use a bobble or clear band then just make them thin and backcomb them at the bottom. You can use a bit of hairspray too and they should stay in all day. Even if they do start to unwind, it all adds to the messy look!*

Rip it up and start again

I’ve opted for this Zara dress today. I love it, but it’s something I don’t wear very often, so I have decided it needs more love! It’s a pretty nice day today thankfully, so I think I’ll go for a walk and get some fresh air. I feel like I’ve been stuck in my room forever, and I’m getting sick of decorating. I did not think it would take this long! You can see the pink colour in the background above, and it’s on three of my walls. It’s pinker than I had imagined, but I actually really like it! I’ve never had a pink room before, and I’m not a particularly ‘pink person’, however I love it!

I’m still waiting on my new carpet and bed being delivered, so my room is pretty empty right now, and it night it is so echoy! I can’t wait to go out and buy loads of accessories and pretty things to add a touch of ‘Emma’ to the room. I’m going to have to keep it pretty cheap and cheerful though because I’m skint (as always), and within the next month I don’t think I’ll have a job because my work is closing down – boo!

(Hello awful tight flashback!)

This is what I wore to Louise’s 21st on Saturday night. I had a slight disaster on Saturday morning as I woke up with very sore, itchy, red eyes! During the day I was working, and had to run (literally) to the chemist to get something to sort them out. It seemed to do the trick at stopping the itching and reducing the redness which was good, because I didn’t want to have to go to her party with scary eyes!

We went to a bar in town and had a good old boogie. Note the ever so shiny tights – the shame! I usually avoid flesh coloured tights at all costs, but it was a must for this dress because it was so short and I didn’t fancy baring all of my legs/possibly flashing strangers! (They weren’t so shiny in real life!)

As far as the room decorating goes, we (me and my Mum) are almost ready to paint it. We went to B&Q the other day to buy the paint and I’m pretty pleased with the colours I picked out. I just hope it looks how I hope it will look when it’s finished. I’m going for a dusky pink and green theme throughout the room, so I got some pretty non-offensive dusky pink colours for the walls. It’s not too pink either which is good, because I don’t want it to look like a kids room! Fingers crossed my interior design skillz (ahem) pay off!

I’m sure you don’t want to hear update after update on the room situation so I will stop rambling, but will definitely do a post with pictures from the completed room. I’m excited to see the final product! Rightyo, I’m away to watch Desperate Housewives and attempt to curl my hair with rags. Night!

Frolicking in Botanic Gardens

Botanic Gardens in Glasgow is one of my favourite places to go in the summer. I was present shopping with Carly for my friend Louise’s 21st, and then we headed into the west end to do some charity shopping. (I got some bags which I’ll show below!) The weather was lovely and we had been walking all day so we decided to go to Botanic Gardens and chill out for a bit .

If Botanic Gardens was nearer my house, then I know I would be there all the time because I just love sitting and reading a book or even just watching people. I also like going to Queens Park and Pollok Park…can you tell I like parks?! Glasgow Park suggestions are more than welcome!! Also, this summer I’ve decided I want to read LOADS of books, and I find reading in a park so much more enjoyable that just reading in the house. Book recommendations also welcome! Genre wise I’m not a big fan of chick flicks, and prefer crime, thriller and particularly non fiction (think Michael Moore, Richard Dawkins etc)

These are the two bags I bought today. The first is probably my favourite and it is in really nice condition and feels lovely. It was £3.99. The second one isn’t in the best condition but it was only £2.99 so I bought it anyway. I’ve been loving charity shops more than ever recently and so I’ve been thinking about doing a blog post and/or video on tips for shopping in them and showing examples of things I have bought in the past. I know not everyone is into shopping in them, but I think the ‘stigma’ has definitely lessened and it’s become almost cool, which is great! I’ve become even more interested in ethical shopping recently, and whilst I don’t want my blog to become preachy, I do want to express how wonderful charity shops can be.

Hola H&M £3.99 Sunnies

I bought these beauties today in H&M after searching for a pair for a while. Loads of shops have really similar styles but they quite often don’t sit properly on the bridge of my nose, and so I was pleased to find a pair that I liked on. They are really lightweight and plasticy, but for £3.99 I wouldn’t expect them to be outstandingly good quality. I can’t wait to wear them whilst reading a book in the garden or having a BBQ, (weather permitting!)

This week I’ve continued sorting out my room and have been browsing the shops for some colour scheme inspiration. I absolutely love shopping for homeware so this has been quite exciting for me, ha! This has also meant that I’ve been watching lots of ‘Room Tour’ videos to see if I get any more ideas. Room Tour videos are often my favourite to watch, because as I said, I love looking at homes and rooms, and I’m also pretty nosey!

In other news I found out that I passed all of my exams which means that I now technically have a BA Degree and can also progress into honours. Booya! Bring it on 4th year! (Secretly cacking it, eeeek!) Hope those of you who are receiving results soon have done well!

‘The Accent Tag’ and a chat.

Today was so warm! It was nice to get a bit of sun after the horrible weather over the past few weeks. I sat in my garden for a while with my Mum and just chilled out. I really should have been sorting through my stuff to see what I can sell on eBay and what can go to charity shops. I always think ‘oh I’ll wear that one day’ despite knowing it’s something that I completely forgot I had and would never wear again. I keep telling myself to be ruthless…I just don’t want to become too ruthless and through away all of my clothes, eeek!

I have much more free time now so I’ve started sorting out my room as I would like to clear it out and completely rearrange (and possible redecorate it). It all depends on how much money I have really! If any of you have any recommendations of shops that sell nice and importantly cheap home items then those would be greatly appreciated!

Travels and Studies in April/May

In my month or so away from blogging I’ve taken quite a few pictures of pretty things so I thought I’d lump them all together here in a sort of ‘what I’ve been doing’ post! Warning: This will be very picture heavy!

In April I went to the Netherlands on a field trip for Uni. (almost as exciting as the ‘Inbetweeners’ Geography field trip!) Haha. It was hard work but we also got the chance to visit loads of really interesting places such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Haarlem and Zoetermeer. I’d love to go back because there’s so much more I’d love to see and we had a lot of work to do so didn’t have much free time. If I were to go back I’d love to go to The Hague and back to Amsterdam, because it was such a wonderful city (despite being associated with what I like to call ‘the sleaze’!)

It’s been too long, but we all know I’m awful at time management and so when things get stressful my spare time activities have to go on the back burner.

Adele Rolling Stone Inspired (Hair and Makeup)

Hi everyone :). I’ve been lacking a little in inspiration recently, but when i saw Adele on the cover of Rolling Stone, I knew I had to at least try and recreate her look. She looks gorgeous as always, and it’s really easy to do too! See the picture HERE :)

(I know this isn’t exact…I’m not her! But it’s fun to try :).)

Hair wise, I curled random sections of my hair with my straighteners, and then backcombed and ran my fingers through my hair to make it big and messy. I then just used a little hairspray all over to hold the style.

For makeup I used:

Lush: Catastrophe Cosmetic Face Mask

I’ve been having some trouble with pesky spots recently, so decided to try this fresh face mask from Lush. The staff in Lush were really friendly and helpful as usual, and the girl that was helping me recommended this mask to help calm my skin. (She also recommended one with garlic in it but I wanted this one as it smelled much nicer!)

The ingredients include fresh blueberries, which give the mask the lovely berry scent. This also means that the mask is not completely smooth as there are little lumps of blueberry in it.

I applied a layer onto my clean face and left it for around ten minutes. The mask is recommended to be left on for five to ten minutes, so I left it for just over ten. Like most other face masks I have tried, this one hardened and gave that tight feeling. What i did notice was that bits of the hardened mask started to fall off, and so this did prove to be a little messy! I would definitely recommend using this in the bathroom.

To remove the mask I just washed my face with warm water. My skin felt very smooth and refreshed, and I noticed that a few of my bigger spots had become less red and sore looking.

I’ve used this mask a few times now and I really like how it makes my skin feel. I definitely think it helped make my skin look better, and whilst I wouldn’t say it completely cured my spots, it definitely made them appear less raised and red.

This face mask costs £5.25, but I reckon I could get four or five good uses out of this, so when you compare it to those 99p face mask sachets it’s probably around the same price per use!

This mask has to be kept in the fridge as it contains fresh ingredients. This also means that it’s very cooling when applied to the skin.

Another good thing about lush is that you can collect five black pots and take them back to the shop in exchange for a free face mask!

They have lots of different masks to suit your own skin needs, whether you have oily, troublesome, dry or aging skin, there will definitely be something to suit you, which I think is great!

Overall I think this is one of my favourite Lush products.

The ‘natural’ look?

If you know me you’ll know that I’m rarely seen without eyeliner on my top lids. I love the stuff. I always think it makes my eyes look bigger and more awake. However, I wanted to try a more ‘natural’ look, and so this meant ditching my beloved liquid liner!

If I’m completely honest, I’m not sure how I feel about it. I feel like my eyes look so small, but I don’t know if that’s in my head or not! This isn’t a look I’d opt for everyday sadly, but I feel a lot more comfortable than I thought I would.

I’m one of those people who if you told me I could only use two makeup items, I would pick mascara and liner. I can go without concealer or foundation if it means my eyes are done. I really don’t know why that is. It might be because my lashes are so light naturally and I want to get as far away from that as possible. Sad I know!

Got these bad boys a few weeks ago. They’re the Panasonic HTZ7E in pink.

I was browsing around online to find a pair that I liked, and was so excited when I found these ones. Normally I’m not a ‘pink person’, but I really love the pale pink shade on these. Urban Outiftters are selling this kind for £55, but after a swift search elsewhere I found them on both Amazon and eBay for around £25.

Are these something you would wear? My Dad did laugh at me a bit, but that’s Dads for you eh!

These pictures are from yesterday, I just didn’t have time to post them. I hope everyone is doing well. I feel so out of the loop recently. I say this all the time, but I have some serious time management problems, and can never find the time to blog these days which is sad!

I bought these trousers recently, and wasn’t really too sure if I would like them. Luckily I do! I hardly own any pairs of trousers as I generally wear skirts, shorts or leggings, but I thought it would be a good idea to get a pair. You can’t fully see them as the pictures aren’t very good, but the photo on the website gives a good idea of what they look like.

Also, I would definitely recommend looking at the kids sections of shops. Often you can find the same or similar items for much cheaper, and a lot of the time they go up to an age 15 which is pretty big!

I bought an OCC lip tar recently and I’m really impressed with it. I’ll go into more detail at some point about it, but if you are someone who was thinking about buying one then I would encourage you to do so. I love mine :).

My lipstick of the moment – MAC Hollywood Nights

I’m so in love with this lipstick. So that may be a little over dramatic, but I can’t seem to stop wearing it since I bought it a few weeks ago. Sadly it’s from a previous MAC collection (Heatherette) and as such was limited edition, but I managed to find it on Love-makeup. Definitely check that website out if you’re looking for products that were limited edition. Oh and everything is genuine! The products seem to come and go a lot, so if they don’t stock something now, it doesn’t mean to say they wont get it in etc.

The lipstick itself is a satin finish which I really like. I’d never tried a satin before, but it’s the perfect mix between matte and not so matte. The staying power is great like a matte lipstick, but it’s much easier to wear. It has a slight sheen to it but not much. All in all it’s the perfect finish for me!

I’ve been wearing this loads as I said, and even though the colour is a little bright I still wear it during the day. Oh wells ;).

Hi everyone :). Hope things alright with everyone! I’ve been really busy recently but I really wanted to try and post something because I miss blogging!

I love this dress. I can’t quite remember if I’ve shown it before, but I wear it all the time. I got it from eBay for 99p which makes me love it even more!

Just a quicky tonight as I have lots to do but wanted to check in! I’m writing my dissertation proposal, scary stuff eh!? It has taken me ages to come up with an idea that I’m willing to commit myself to for the next year! I have such a new found respect for those in their final years of university!

Boom blast and ruin girl…

It was my birthday on Tuesday, and I’m now the ripe old age of twenty. I know it’s only a number, but I’m a little excited to now to no longer be a teenager. Ahh it seems weird to say that! It’s all downhill from here I can sense it! Those are a few of the cards that my lovely friends gave me. Note the little ‘Jeremy Kyle’ one – it did make me chuckle, and the sleazy one on the right harhar!

On Saturday a group of us went out for birthday celebrations and we had a lovely time. I also received loads of lovely presents from my friends and I love them all! I got some moustache tattoos which caused quite a bit of hilarity (especially after a few drinks) and so most of us put one on. This isn’t a photo from that night, but I wanted to show you one, so here is me rocking one alone today!

I’ve also been loving this floral headband. I bought it from Crown and Glory when I bought my daisy headband. At the time I preferred the daisy one, but this one has grown on me lots and I really like it now! I really like the blues and greens with my hair, gotta love a bit of contrast!

My lovely uni friends got me some birthday goodies too which was very kind! One of the things they got me was Viva Glam Gaga lipstick! I had been eyeing this up for a while, but wasn’t sure how much the colour would suit me. I have the Cyndi one which I love, and now I’m pleased to say I am the proud owner of Gaga too! My doubts on the shade were also put to rest as I really love this on.

I started back uni a few weeks ago, and things have been hectic since. All this talk of dissertations is making me feel slightly ill! Obviously it isn’t due for over a year, but we have to start planning it now and submitting our proposals, so there’s quite a bit on right now! It makes me wish I had partied more when I was in first year! For those wondering, my course is four years long – that’s the standard length for an honours degree in Scotland. Just in case there’s any confusion. (As I know in England and I think the rest of the UK it’s three?).

This is a picture of a book which gave me the sorest eyes. The font made it so hard to read, I just had to take a picture and moan!

I’ve been wearing this Berry Ice cream nail varnish by Barry M, and I really like it. It’s similar to a shade I had by Collection 2000 which was amazing but unfortunately has now gone lumpy. One of my friends got this for me as part of a present and I’ve been wearing it since. Loving these super girly colours recently.

So that’s pretty much what I’ve been up to! I quite enjoyed writing this chatty kind of post :). I’ll leave you with a song I’ve had in my head for days and days. Warning, this song will get into your brain and will not vacate!

Frontcover GO!GO!GO!: Review

I mentioned in my last post that I had bought this set in the January sales for £8.75 (RRP £35). I had my eye on it when it was full price, but some of the colour put me off a little, however when I saw it in the sale I knew I had to get it and try it out! I have a small neutral palette by this brand already which I absolutely love, and so was excited to expand my collection! (I talk about the other palette here if you are interested).

So onto what you get for your money:

Inside you get 20 shadows, some of which are matte, and some are shimmery. Most are shimmery.
You get a double ended brush which I really like. One end is small and really good for under the eye or for the crease, and the other is good for blending and colour application. Often with sets the brushes (or sponge tip applicators) are a bit naff, so it is great to see a nice brush!
There is also a palette which fits four shadows inside, which means that you can pick your four favourite and take them with you. I think this is such a brilliant idea as the set itself is pretty large and far too big to take on holiday or anywhere else you might be going.
You get a ‘magic’ liner which turns any of the shadow colours into a liner. Personally this isn’t something I would use because I prefer a black liner, however I did test it out and it works pretty well.
On the inside of the set, there are loads of makeup tips and tricks, and ideas of how you can use the different colours. This is a great idea for someone who wants to experiment more with colours and looks.

For me, this is a great mixture of colours. Generally speaking I go for neutral shadows, though it is nice to have a little selection of colours too that I can use. When I do opt for colours, it is usually greeny shades, and so it’s nice to see this set with lots of ‘Emma’ shades :).

Below I have used colours that are in my comfort zone:

I then tried out a look that I would never normally go for:

All the shadows are a really nice quality and blend well together. Some of the more shimmery ones did have a lot of fall out, and so I would definitely do my eye makeup first when using those shades. For me that isn’t too much of a problem, but it is something to be aware of.

I don’t think I would re-create that green look again, but it’s great to have the option of those shades, and I think they would look lovely incorporated into a smoky eye.

I’m so glad I bought this, and have been using it loads since I did. I’m really excited to try out more from this brand now, and I’d definitely recommend having a look at their products the next time you’re in Boots!

I did a little bit of online shopping last week. I bought this trilby… I really like it, but do feel around 14/15 again because I remember a few of my friends and I had some pretty questionable ones then. (H&M Men’s section anyone?!) Teenage fashion disasters aside, I’m so glad I bought this. It was £6.99 from Newlook.

It has a leopard print band around the middle of the hat, which you can’t see in the pictures. You can see it here on the website.

In make up news, I’ve been loving this Front Cover ‘GO!GO!GO!’ palette. I have a review coming up on this as I’ve been using it non stop for the past two weeks. Bought it in the 75% off sale (banging!). I’ll go in to more detail in the review so look out for that if you are interested :).

I took a break from the studying today and went to meet my Mum after she finished work. We went to this place where they sell second hand books, clothes and furniture and I got loads of books! It’s similar to a charity shop, but I think it’s run by the council and it helps unemployed people to gain work experience etc. I’m not entirely sure! Like all second hand shops, there was a lot of tat, but I’m pleased with the books that I managed to get. Most of them were non-fiction/academic.

Hello lovelies! Just thought I’d show you a little ‘face of the day’ from Christmas day :) I’m trying to stay on top of posting, even though things are set to get a little manic with exams. But I will schedule posts if need be, because I want to put more effort into blogging! :)

Christmas Eve:

Santa hats at the ready! ;) I was feeling festive so used some glitter liner on my lower lash line. The one I used was the gold Urban Decay heavy metal slitter liner. I love it!

Christmas day:

On Christmas day I decided to dress up a little. I used the e.l.f ‘dramatic’ lashes, and I have to say I’m really impressed :). They applied really easily as the lash band is so thin. My lovely friend got me these and also the ‘natural’ ones, which I cannot wait to try!

I’ve just used ‘all that glitters’ buy MAC all over my lid, and I’m wearing ‘lover’ by Illamasqua on my cheeks.

Last week I received my dollybowbow order, which I had been waiting on for weeks due to the snow and other problems. I was so happy to eventually get it, so I thought I’d show you what I bought. I love it all!

The thing I was most excited about was the ‘dolly bow’. It’s basically one of those twisty head bands, which means you can easily recreate the look of a headscarf with minimal effort. I love wearing scarves in my hair, but sometimes I need to kirby them onto my hair, so it can be a bit time consuming and fiddly. These mean that you can achieve the look really quickly! I chose the green polka dot design as i love green and thought it would look nice with my hair colour.

The next thing I bought is something which is very popular with many bloggers – a scrabble ring. Dollybowbow is one of many sites selling these, and there are many other bloggers who are selling rings and necklaces like this, so they are easy to get if you want one! I know Victoria was also selling them (although I suspect you would need to wait till after Christmas to order).

I also bought this necklace, but I don’t have it with me right now. I opted for the longer chain, as there are two lengths available and I’m not a huge fan of short necklaces.

Starry Eyed

Hey everyone, hope you are doing well and the snow hasn’t been messing up your plans too much! I just wanted to show you this 17 trio which has quickly became my go-to for festive eyes!

This trio if called ‘Neptune’, is from the ‘Starry Eyes’ range, and costs £4.99

There are a few trios on this range, but this one stood out to me most as the colours looked most ‘me’.

(Apologies for the rubbishy pics – I have a bit of a cold, so I’m paler than usual!!)

I’ve seen this 17 trio on a few blogs, and the colours looked lovely so I knew I just had to get it. In my experience 17 shadows are very pigmented, and this trio did not disappoint.

I’m wearing the gold and greeny/grey on my lid and the purple on my lower lash line. I really like this as it adds a bit of colour without being too much. I’m a neutral girl at heart!!The purple shadow is pretty matte but the other two are very shimmery. I love a bit of shimmer, but the matte purple is nice if you don’t want to be too shimmery!

Right now 17 are doing an offer where if you spend over £6 you get a free eye shadow palette with six gorgeous colours in it!

How I style my hair.

Step One:

Before brushing or combing, I spray the leave in conditioner liberally all over my hair, particularly focussing on the ends.

I then brush through my hair and spray on the heat defence spray. I then use my frizz ease serum, using a pump on each side of my hair. (I usually give my right side a little more since there is more hair on that side)

Step Two:

I then blow dry my hair. Towards the end I tip my head upside-down and dry it that way. I blow dry it straight as I find it helps when straightening as it doesn’t need as much work. As you can see below, it is relatively straight after blow drying, however it is very fluffy and big (and not big in a good way!)

Step Three:

I straighten my hair. I use the clip to clip up the very top layers of my hair. I don’t straighten it very precisely, I just run it all over my hair and then focus on my top layers.

Step Four:

I use my straighteners to curl my very very loosely. Again I am not precise with this, and just grab random pieces of hair and curl them. I don’t want to curl my whole head, just some sections.

When I feel I have curled enough, I use my beach curl spray and spritz some onto my hair. I use my hands to scrunch my hair and mess it up a little. I don’t want perfect curls!

I then finish with a little hairspray to prevent my fringe from flying all over the place, and keep the style in place. I feel like I suit this style more than poker straight hair, and it doesn’t take too long!

My hair has been annoying my recently. It’s sometime such a pain to work with! I do love the length but maybe I should get a change. I absolutely love short hair but I know something really short wouldn’t suit my face. I am tempted to get quite a bit off though. Hmmm. Maybe above my shoulders? I know it’s such a crazy change, it’s definitely something I’ll need to think about. Help!!

Under blue moon I saw you…

I’m pretty much in love with this style of hat. I’ve been looking for one for quite a while, but Christmas shopping has left me with little cash to spare, so I hunted high and low to find an inexpensive one. Primark, yet again, came up trumps.

This particular one is from the Mens section. I couldn’t see any in the Womens section, plus my head must be quite large because sometimes hats don’t fit me! This one however is a perfect fit, and it’s so warm.

Earmuffs?

I remember when I was around six, I wanted a pair of earmuffs so much for Christmas. I got them, and loved them so much. This year my love has returned, and I have seen them everywhere!

Got these bad boys from Primark for £3. Not the greatest quality, but they do keep my little ears warm, which is much needed in this weather! I may splash out on a nicer pair when I have more money.

I think these are very much a love/hate item. I think you can tell I love them! What are your thoughts?

Come and Play at Selfridges (and how I wish I lived near one!)

I’ve seen a few posts on this topic, and when I was contacted about it I was excited to share with you guys. From time to time I do get emails asking me to mention certain brands or events but before I haven’t really been interested in the products/events. I don’t usually do posts like this, but this stood out to me as something really fun! The only negative aspect is that there isn’t a Selfridges near me :( Bad times!

Basically, Selfridges are holding a ‘Come and Play’ event from 25th November to 5th December. Each day, something really exciting will happen. Examples include, the launching of new products, freebies, and beauty tips from top makeup artists. Top makeup artists including the fabulous Alex Box of Illamasqua, who will be Birmingham on 27th November, the Trafford Centre on 28th November, and in London on 4th December.

Selfridges have also recently launched the Chanel beauty boutique online, which is great for those who don’t live near one (ie – me!) or for those who prefer shopping in their pjs!

There was talk of a Selfridges opening in Glasgow years ago, I’m so sad they never did open one!

MAC Face and Body Review.

I wanted to do this review for a few reasons. Firstly, a few people commented on it when I first bought it, and secondly, because I feel like I haven’t done a review in a while. There are many reviews for this out there, but I guess I can just add to them, eh? Why not :).

I bought mine on the MAC website, and I bought the shade N1. It retails for £23 and you get a whopping 120ml (compared to your usual 30ml).

Colour:

I find this colour ever so slightly too dark for me (I am NW15), however, as the formula is so light, it blends in well and makes me look like I have a healthy glow. Because it is so thin, it is easy to blend and doesn’t give me the dreaded orange line! I am very fussy when it comes to foundation shades, as I hate when foundations don’t match me, however I actually do like this shade on me. I would say N1 would suit NW15-20 skin.

Formulation:

I mentioned this slightly above, but the formulation of the foundation is extremely light. I would liken the coverage to that of a tinted moisturiser. With that said, it is however very buildable, and so you can add another layer to increase the coverage. I would not recommend this for people who want a heavy coverage. The foundation is very runny. Not so runny that it drips everywhere, but it is far runnier than anything i have tried before. Don’t let this put you off though, as I find it easy to work with.

Application:

I use a flat topped powder brush from elf to apply this foundation (Lollipop26 style). That works really well and is the best brush I have tried it with. I have also used my fingers to apply it and it was relatively easy. As you apply the foundation it begins to dry slowly on the skin and so as you buff it in it becomes almost sticky. Not sticky in a bad way though. It is a hard thing to describe. It takes a little minute for the foundation to dry, and so I wouldn’t apply anything on top straight away.

The ‘Look’

The look this foundation gives is very fresh and dewy. Some may find this too dewy, and may feel the need to use a powder over the top. I have dry skin, and so quite like the dewy look, although I do feel the need to powder my t-zone as I find it looks a little too dewy! I’m not sure how this foundation would work on oily skin, but I enjoy using it on my dry skin.

Anything else you should know?:

From reading other reviews and from my own experience, I will say that this foundation does have a strange smell. I don’t find the smell very strong or offensive at all, but there is still a definite smell about it. It is difficult to describe but I think it smells a little like leaves or something. Odd I know!

Also, there have been reports of it breaking people out really badly. I am luckily not acne prone, and only get the few hormonal spots on my chin. This month the spots on my chin have been slightly worse than usual, and I’m unsure as to if this foundation has made then worse. The rest of my face is fine though, so probably not. I’m not really sure.

The foundation is quite hard to remove fully from brushes when cleaning. I had to wash my brush a lot more vigorously than usual. I believe this is because the foundation is water based. I also make sure I cleanse my face twice to ensure all of the foundation is fully removed.

Pros:

The price. You get 4x that of a normal foundation.
Easy to apply.
Lasts all day.
Looks like real skin.
Gives a dewy/healthy look.

Cons:

Difficult to remove from brushes.
May cause possible breakouts to acne prone people.
Could be too oily for oily skins.
The smell (although it doesn’t bother me)

Overall, I really like this foundation. It is perfect for me to use everyday and gives a lovely natural finish.

CLOSED Giveaway and Review – those false nails.

I want to quickly review the false nails I showed in this post.

I applied them on the Saturday and I had to remove them by the following Saturday as I was working. I thought that they would have become loose by then, but they hadn’t at all, and were still very much stuck on. I thought they still looked fab, and I think they would have lasted another week if I hadn’t removed them!

What I would say is, these are quite annoying to remove. I had to sit with my hands in acetone for about 30 minutes before they were able to come off. When they came off there was some glue still on my nails and so I had to buff this off.

My nails feel fine now, but just a warning that you cannot just pull these off, it takes a little effort.

For about £7, these aren’t something I’d use every week, but they certainly are good for a treat, and I think I’ll use them at Christmas time.

Oh I do love false nails…

Hello my dears! I cannot express how much I love false nails. If I didn’t work where I do then I think I’d have acrylic or gel nails all the time. (Although maybe this is a good thing as I’d also be skint)

For Hallowe’en I decided to treat myself and get some glue-ons, and I just want to share with you my favourites.

The nails are by Real Life, and are very similar to the ones from this post – however those ones were slightly shimmery, and these are not. For everyday I think I prefer these ones. I got the short ones, which meant that I could do everything normally straight away – whereas with longer ones it takes me around a day to adjust to typing/applying make-up etc.

Up close you can clearly see the join at the bottom, but that doesn’t bother me.

I applied them on Saturday afternoon, and they' are still very much attached after four days. They claim to last seven days, and i really do think that they will.

I do love false nails, especially French manicure ones. Some people find them tacky, but I really like them, especially these short ones.

I bought these from Boots and they were around £6-7.

heart in a cage

I’ve been using my curling tongs quite a lot recently. I rarely used them before, because despite being fabulous curlers, I always reached for my straighteners to provide loose waves. However, I’ve been craving more defined curls of late, and so these are perfect.

(The tongs I use are by Nicky Clarke. Not sure on the kind, but they have a thin barrel and are black and red)

I’ve not worn my hair curly in a while and I forgot how much I liked it. I’ll definitely be doing this more often. All I did was curl a load of sections, then use some mousse to separate the curls and mess it around a little. Then I clipped the front sections to the side. Simples!

Also, I bought this headband a few weeks ago on eBay. It’s very summery - so not exactly suited to the weather now - but I love it! I picked the greeny colour as I wanted it to stand out against my hair.

Project Second-hand

For the next month I’ve set myself a little challenge, where the only clothes I can buy are second-hand. Places I’ll be buying clothes include (mainly) charity shops, vintage shops, and carboot sales/fayres etc.

There are a few reasons for this really.

I’ve always been troubled by issue of ‘sweatshops’ and workers being exploited for their labour. It’s something I feel very strongly about, yet I feel there isn’t really much we can do about it. In recent years, there has been increasing media coverage about this issue, and so as you probably know, it isn’t just the low cost shops that are guilty of exploiting their labour force. Higher end highstreet stores are also guilty of this, meaning their profits soar as the mark-up on goods is so great.
I don’t have much money right now, and so by shopping in charity shops, I’ll be able to save some money. With regards to ‘Vintage’ shops, items can be a little pricey, so I probably wont be shopping in them very often – we shall see! Plus, shopping in charity shops also helps raise money for chairty!!

I know some people detest the thought of even entering a charity shop, but I have no qualms about it. I really enjoy having a good rummage around and finding gems. If you’re lucky you really can find some gorgeous things. (Tip – visit charity shops in more affluent areas, they often have designer pieces, or items from the higher end of the highstreet)

For tips on carboot sales, check out Kavita’s blog if you haven’t already. She has amazing style and always finds some great things.

Another positive for shopping in charity shops is that many items are from many decades ago, and so they are ‘Made in Britain’. (Meaning work was not outsourced abroad where they can pay workers much less) They also tend to be really well made also.

I’m not trying to be ‘above’ anyone, or say that people who buy from the highstreet are wrong – at all. I’m not an expert on this issue, but it is one which interests me and I do read a lot about this issue. After this month is over I see how I feel, but can pretty much guarantee that I will still be shopping on the highstreet. I just want to try and do my bit, and reduce the amount of ‘new’ items I buy. I will update weekly with any items I buy :).

I’ll hopefully be updating more often than i have been in the recent months. I have few unfinished posts in my drafts so I’ll be aiming to get those up soon.

Boredom has led to me applying false lashes when I have no plans to leave the house. These lashes are the Girls Aloud Kimberly Festival ones, and I was curious to see what they looked like on as I’ve never worn lashes like this before.

They took a little more effort to apply that regular lashes, as I was more conscious than I usually would be about making them exactly the same on each eye.

I really like the little feathers, and I think these would be great for a night out. In fact, I may wear them on Friday night when I’m out. What i would say about these is that they aren’t the thickest of lashes, and so if I wanted huge lashes I’d be tempted to wear another pair of lashes under these ones.

DIY (sort of) top/dress.

I’ve been meaning to post this for a few days but I keep forgetting to take good photographs of me wearing it.

About a month ago I found this Smiths top in Pulp in Glasgow. Not sure if it’s a nationwide shop, but they do have a website. (The shop is much better than the website though in my opinion). It was only £5 so I snapped it up, even though they only had an XL. I told myself I’d find a way to wear it, and I did :).

Didn’t really do anything major to it, I just cut the sleeves off and tied a belt around the middle. Simples ;).

I really want to get into customising items and making things, but I haven’t properly sewn since I was in school so I need to start off with simple things. If anyone has any ideas then please let me know :). Or any blog recommendations too. Might start off with a cloth bag or something simple like that.

This is how I’ve been wearing my hair the past few days. It started off as a way to get my tresses out of my face when I was tidying, but it’s grown on me. I’m quite enjoying the messy pony look.

I decided to take advantage of the ASOS sale the other day. I really do love ASOS. I’ve had nothing but great service from them. (I know some people have had some issues, but I guess I’ve just been lucky)

I was mainly looking for a dress I can wear to my brother’s 18th, but I spotted some other goodies too :).

They were reduced to around £2 so I decided to get them. I now have all except Nadine’s, and I don’t really like the look of hers. I think Kimberly’s and Nicola’s are my favourites. I also decided to by some extra glue as it was only £2. I’m using a Revlon glue right now which is equally as good.

HOTD – Heated Rollers

I used the rollers on dry hair and I was quite rough when I put these in – as you can see above. I split my hair into a few sections and then just took random sections of hair, and I wasn’t too bothered about strands poking out. If I was going for a more ‘perfect’ look then I would have put more effort into it. When all the rollers were in, I sprayed a bit of hairspray in attempt to make the curls as good as possible. My hair holds a curl reasonably well, but if yours doesn’t, you may need quite a bit of hairspray.

I left the rollers in for around 90minutes while I did some chores around the house. I find this more than enough time for them to work on me. After I removed them I tipped my head upside down, sprayed a little more hairspray and ran my fingers through my hair.

I love heated rollers for a loose curl as they give quite a lot of volume. The set I have are really old and were my Mums, and they still work really well so I’m pretty happy with them for now :).

I’m back! Not going to go into the boring reasons behind me not being around, and I’m just going to start a fresh! I hope you’ve all been well and I’m so excited to get back into reading the blogs that I love!!

I feel like I’ve gone a little Girls Aloud crazy recently, but this was not intentional! I’d had my eyes on Nicola’s festival lashes, and when I saw them on sale I decided to snap them up, along with Sarah’s. (I’ve just noticed on ASOS that the festival lashes are reduced to £2-3 depending on the style, so if you wanted to try them then now’s your chance!) I also got the limited edition Elnett hairspray with Cheryl on the front. If I’m honest I pretty much just bought this because it looks nice and I wanted it on my shelf! I usually get the Extra Strength one but this one is good also.

I’m also really into candles right now. I bought a couple in Ikea the other day and I’m quite impressed. This one is a tropical fruity one and it’s really pleasant. I think they were just over £1 which is great as they’re a decent size and smell great.

Top two pairs were from Primark, bottom pair are from Newlook. I think the mint green pair are one of my favourite pairs that I own, and they were dirt cheap. I’m pretty positive these were £1.

I’m so in love with this lipstick. The colour is just unreal. I’m wearing it in the picture below, and although it claims to be ‘Coral’, I’d describe it as a red with a hint of coral. I really want to get some more of the Colorburst lipsticks now, as the formula of this one is really good.

I’ve been on a few day trips too, and recently went to M&D’s. For those of you not in Scotland, it’s just a theme park. It’s not amazing but it is pretty fun and it has a little zoo type area that I loved.

There were also little turtles in this pool and they were so cute! We were trying to feed them but the fish kept stealing the food haha. Such a fun day!

I’ve also really taken an interest in interiors and love looking at home magazines and things like that. I’ve been really ruthless with my room and thrown loads of junk out and changed bits of it, and I’m at a stage where I’m quite happy with how it looks. I love watching room tours and seeing other peoples rooms, so I might post some pictures of it at some point.

So this was a little rambley but oh well. It’s good to be back, and I’m now away to read all of your lovely blogs and catch up :)

Last week I discovered that I came second place in Lisa’s contest :). I hadn’t even noticed as I had barely been online due to exams, so I was really excited when Lisa told me.

I’m so glad I have a new one now because the colours are incredible :)

Loads of pampering goodies! The candle is by Partylite and it is a relaxing eucalyptus and spearmint scent. I’m going to burn this tonight as it smells delicious! Pictured is also a sparkly make up bag, a mini brush and comb set, a lovely bracelet, and a door hanger that says ‘Pamering in Progress’. I feel like having a big chill out day with all my goodies :)

So excited by these sweets! I love lovehearts and haven’t had them in years so this is quite exciting! And the ring pop lolly reminds me of being young – remember these?!! :)

‘New’ Hairstyle

Recently I’ve been loving styling my hair over to one side. It’s hardly anything different, but I have never worn my hair like this before, and now I really like it.

I just loosely curl loads of sections of my hair with my straighteners and then spirtz with a little hairspray. I then plaited some hair from the left hand side of my head and pinned it at the back. (As you can hopefully see below)

This look is so simple and makes a change from my usual hairstyles.

Bourjois Blush Review

As you can tell from the title, today I’m reviewing the Bourjois Blush pots. The colour I have is - 34 Rose D’or.

The product comes with a little brush inside the pot, however I don’t use this as I find it is a funny shape and isn’t the greatest of brushes. It also has a mirror on the inside which is great for when you’re carrying around your products. I actually quite like the packaging, and the smell of the product, which is a very sweet smell.

Unfortunately this is where the good points end. I find this product extremely sheer and I find myself having to pile it on in order to get even the most natural look. Typically, I will have to apply this 4 or 5 times to my cheeks in order for it to show up in any real way. The picture below shows it seriously piled on to my cheek. I do love the colour of this, and that’s what annoys me so much because if the colour pay off were better I do think this would be one of my favourites. I have a natural collection blusher which was under £2 and is much more pigmented!

There is gold veining through the product which helps give a nice shimmery effect to the cheek.

When I swatch it with my finger it looks pretty promising and pigmented, however when applied it does not show up anywhere near as bold as this.

Can you see it? I’ve swatched it on my arm below and if you look closely you can see it on the right hand side of the picture. This was that swatch above wiped onto my arm. You can really see the difference.

I looked at reviews of this blush on the boots website, and it was rated really well, with some people saying the colour pay off was good. For me, this is not the case. Maybe I got a dud, or this particular colour is not as good as some others. Hmmm.

Would I purchase this again? No. I do love the colour, but it’s too much work for when I’m in a rush. However I am keen to try the bourjois foundations as I have great things about them.

This product retails for £6.99 and it can be purchased from Boots, Superdrug and some supermarkets in the UK. Not sure where it is sold abroad.

False nails, orange lips, summer dresses.

Hi everyone! It feels so good to be able to blog and not feel guilty. I’ve now finished uni for the summer, and so I can blog without feeling like I should be reading/writing/studying. Yay! :)

I’ve been pining for some false nails recently, but couldn’t get any because I had my exams (exams+false nails=emma not being able to write properly). On the day of my last exam I bought these falsies and I absolutely love them on :) I got the short ones, as I thought they’d look most *ahem* natural.

I absolutely love the look of french manicures. Unfortunately, I just cannot master them. I think I have the most unsteady hand ever.

The glue for these nails is really good. I’ve only had these on for a day so far but they feel so secure. I’m really quite impressed. It says they last for 7 days, which I’m not sure I quite believe but we shall see. I’ll need to take them off for work at the weekend, but if they last till then I’ll be pleased.

They were £7.49 from Boots. I went to a tiny Boots store and so there wasn’t much choice, but these looked the nicest out of the ones that they had stocked.

This is a very light coat of the orange Barry M lipgloss. I’ve been loving it recently, it makes me feel so summery :)

I bought this dress the other day. I know you can’t properly see it but I just wanted to show the pattern. It’s super lightweight and great for those really warm days.

Rimmel Colour Show Off Lipstick – Shake Up Pink

I spotted this range in Boots the other day, having never seen it before. I assumed it was new, but after a quick search online, I found a few posts about these lipsticks from a few months ago. So they are new, just not as new as I thought!

The packaging is very shiny and pretty tacky, but I quite like that! It stands out in my lipstick drawer, as this has by far the brightest packaging of all of my lippies.

I swatched a few, and opted for this pinky shade in ‘Shake Up Pink’. There was a really nice coral shade too that I might need to check out.

The lipsticks in the range have a semi-matte finish, which I really like because the colour lasts quite a while on my lips. They aren’t super drying either which is good, although in the picture below I have teamed it with some lip balm which is making it look slightly more shiny that it would normally be. Whilst it isn’t overly drying, if you have dry lips as I do, you will need to use this with a balm or gloss.

This lipstick leaves a slight stain on the lips, so that when the lipstick has worn off there is still a hint of the colour there. The colour pay off is very intense, and I would say that it is the most pigmented of all the other Rimmel lipsticks that I own.

It has a fruity scent, which I suspect some people may not like. I’m not overly keen on it, but it doesn’t bother me when it’s on the lips. It has a smell that is so familiar to me…I just can’t put my finger on what it is.

You can get these in Boots and Superdrug, and probably some supermarkets too. It retails for £5.99.

Is it a unique colour? Not particularly, and I have quite a few similar shades. However I would recommend this range and I most probably will purchase more!

Vintage and Charity Shop Shopping

Last week I went shopping with my Mum to get a little break from studying.

Some ‘Vintage’ shops annoy me, because I feel like sometimes they just sell any old crap and people lap it up because it’s got the label ‘vintage’. However, there are some gems to be found in vintage shops. Also, I’m a big fan of charity shops. I know some people think they’re disgusting and full of old tat, but if you look hard enough and are willing to have a rummage then you can find some lovely pieces.

I went shopping in the West End of Glasgow. There are loads of charity and vintage shops there.

Brown leather lace up shoes:

*Gasps*. I know these aren’t to everyone's taste, but I adore these shoes! They’re a gorgeous leather and have been really well taken care of, as we think they’re from around the 60’s. I have a feeling these may be mens, but I don’t care! :)

Big Woolly Cardigan:

My Mum was horrified when I bought this haha. I really wanted a big slouchy old granny-ish cardigan and I found one in one of the charity shops. I think it was a Cancer Research but I’m not 100%.

I also picked up a few old vinyls. Over the summer I want to redecorate my room, and I already have a music themed wall, so I want to add to it. I plan to get loads and put them all around the outside of the wall…I hope that makes sense.

In Oxfam Music they have little ‘lucky dip’ parcels where you get 5 or 10 random cd’s/vinyls etc. I thought it was a cute idea so got 5.

And I wear falsies when I’m studying…cause that’s just how i roll! (I was actually testing out a Revlon lash adhesive I got, and wanted to cheer myself up at the same time!)

I’ve scheduled this post because I’ve got my exams at the moment and much like every other student, I am freaking out! My exam timetable also sucks big time. I have three, and they’re on Friday, Monday and Tuesday. Grrr hate when they put them all together. My last exam is on the 25th :D. Wish me luck!!!!

ASOS haul and OOTD :)

This is an ‘Outfit of the day’ from a few days ago. I’ve been so bust recently I’ve just not had a chance to post anything.

The top is from Topshop a while ago and the shorts are from Tesco. Love the so much but they do have a tendency to fly up and show your undies – so I always make sure I wear thick tights, and I wont be wearing these on windy days. Despite that I do love them :)

As I’ve been so busy with uni stuff, I haven’t been shopping much, so I decided a little ASOS shop was in order. This is what i got:

It’s good to see that I have an appropriately sized box for my order. In the past I’ve had my orders delivered in HUGE boxes which was completely unnecessary!

Illamasqua e/s – Bronx

Some of the shadows were reduced to £7.50, including this one. I was a little worried in case it was rubbish, as I was suspicious of it being reduced! However I have to say this is a lovely golden coppery colour which I have been wearing loads since I got it.

Yes to Carrots Lip Butter – Berry £3 (sorry for the bright flash)

First impressions are good. It looks like a regular cheapo lip balm, but this really moisturises my lips well and I feel like it actually helps treat sore lips rather than just acting as a barrier. Smell could be better but I’m not complaining.

‘Peace’ bangles - £6-7 (Can’t quite remember)

These are basically those cheap rubbery bracelets you used to get a few years ago – remember those?! Well yeah, it’s those, but some have a little ‘peace’ charm on them. I’ve been enjoying wearing just one of these at a time – ie – just one of the ones with the big charm on and that’s all.

Set of various bracelets - £6 (I think)

This is the kind of look that I like to recreate with loads of individual bracelets that I already own, and so I bought these just to add to my collection. I’ll be mixing and matching these with the ones that I already own. Really like the woolly/woven one at the top.

Lilac belt - £6

I just got this for when I’m wearing something baggy, or fancy just jazzing up an old dress or something. I have a few belts like this and they come in very handy :).

Multi purpose clothing.

I love finding alternative uses for things. One of my wardrobe staples are boobtubes, as they can be used in various ways. The thought of them may make some of you recoil slightly, however I want to show that they have multiple uses, and aren’t just that tacky item of clothing reversed for use on holidays only.

Use #1: Wear them in the intended way.

I generally don’t like to wear them like this, but some people do :). I have found however, that they’re great to slip on if I’m doing fake tan on my arms/chest etc. Also when it’s nice and warm in the summer you can slip one on to avoid getting tan lines on your shoulders.

Use #2: Wear them under low cut tops.

I own quite a few low cut and baggy tops, which if you’re not careful, can result in your bra being on show. There’s a difference between having a tiny bit of bra on show, and being able to see right down your top, and with some tops, the latter is pretty common. This is where the boob tube comes in. Just slip one on under your top and you don’t have to worry about flashing your bra :).

Use #3: Wear them as skirts (my personal favourite!)

I have quite a few of the skirts which are similar to this, but I like wearing boobtubes as skirts just as much as I like wearing the actual skirts. The only difference is that with boobtubes, the material is a little thinner, but that isn’t an issue for me.

You can pick them up for a fraction of the price of the similar looking skirts, especially from places like Primark. If I recall correctly, I think this grey one was £1.50.

Go on…BREAK THE RULES! ;)
